Designated institute of CIPM MRA

The AC/DC watt comparator as the primary standard for AC electric power and energy was established by JEMIC in 1962.

It was legally designated as the national standard in 1993, arising from the revision of the Measurement Law in Japan.

A new electric power and energy calibration system was developed in 2004, and the AC/DC watt comparator was replaced by the new system in 2005.

JEMIC has been designated by NMIJ as the designated institute of CIPM MRA for AC power and energy since October of 2007 as listed in Appendix A of CIPM MRA.
